Residents are being asked for their views on new proposals for the future use of City Hall.
The proposals, which are open for comment on Get Talking Norwich, are designed to protect City Hall’s Grade II* listed status while also being flexible enough for any outcome of the review of Local Government Reorganisation.
Councillor Lucy Galvin, leader of the council, said:
“These proposals are designed to make City Hall more open, flexible and greener without compromising on its Grade II* listed status.”
The proposals which have emerged from the previous consultation feature:
- New refurbished lobby and entrance area
- New civic living room
- New light filled atrium (pictured above)
- Sensitively restored council chamber and a new civic suite
- Repaired and more accessible clock tower
- Open and flexible workspaces
Residents and stakeholders will be able to comment on the proposals until 30 September before a planning application is submitted later in the year.
Gaining planning permission will build flexibility in terms of future changes and use of the building after the outcome of the review of Local Government Reorganisation.
Cllr Galvin added:
“City Hall is the people’s place so it’s important Norwich residents give their views so they can be taken into consideration after the outcome of the review of Local Government reorganisation.”
