Road closures affecting the Anglia Square area

Anglia Square

As part of the redevelopment of Anglia Square and associated ongoing demolition works, there will be road closures on parts of Edward Street and Magdalen Street, along with bus diversions, starting on Sunday 1 February and is expected to remain in place for approximately six weeks.

These closures are required to enable demolition activity to be carried out safely and to protect public safety.

Councillor Carli Harper, cabinet member finance and major projects, said: “We do understand this may cause inconvenience to motorists, residents and businesses; however, this needs to be done in order for us to deliver on our commitment to redevelop Anglia Square.

“And we do understand demolition and building works will have an impact on local traders and the community, which is why we created the new box park, St Saviours Yard, which is already up and running and will, we believe, make Magdalen Street a really buzzing part of the city.”

Public notices of the road closures have been published in the local media today (Friday, 23 January). Letters on behalf of Norwich City Council from our contractor DSM have also been sent to affected nearby properties, businesses and residents.
