If you're renting out property, especially a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO), you may need to register with us. Even if registration isn't required, landlords must:
- Ensure gas and electrical safety checks are done regularly.
- Provide an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).
- Protect tenant deposits in a government-approved scheme.
- Give tenants the “How to Rent” guide.
- Maintain the property to avoid health hazards.
- Conduct Right to Rent checks.
As a landlord or letting and management agent you are expected to abide by the Private Rented Sector Code of Practice.
