- don’t burn waste in summer – only burn approved organic materials
- use weed control wisely – mulch or plastic is okay, but no carpetkeep noise to a minimum if attending
Allotment best practices
Allotments are a great way to meet others and share growing tips.
To keep things friendly:
- mark your plot clearly and stick to the boundaries
- talk to neighbours about fences, sheds, or anything that might affect them
- keep your plot tidy and weed-free
- trim trees that might block sunlight from nearby plots
- be responsible for your visitors – keep noise down and stay on your plot
- visit your allotment shop or speak to your site rep if you have one. They can help with questions or pass concerns to the council.
